Libertà is a personal film project, which I began in early 2023 as both producer and director of photography. Directed by Dapper Bruijn and co-produced with Raoul Karadag, the film tells the story of Andrea, a 76-year-old woman with Alzheimer’s, portrayed by Olga Zuiderhoek, alongside Monic Hendrickx as her daughter. Inspired by my grandmother’s experience with the disease, the film highlights Andrea’s struggle to maintain her independence while facing memory loss.

Libertà delves into the emotional complexity of Alzheimer’s, exploring not only Andrea’s experience but also the impact on her family. Our aim is to raise awareness of the disease while emphasizing the importance of preserving dignity and independence for those who suffer from it.
